| I received a note from Greg Damery yesterday regarding Karl Deibert. Here is the notice that was in the Vernon Morning Star. Thomas Karl Deibert (December 03, 1950 – April 29, 2006) With deep sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Thomas Karl Deibert. A beloved friend, brother, respected colleague and devoted spouse to his 25 year love, Deborah Boyne. Born on December 3, 1950 in Quebec City, Quebec, Karl is one of 8 siblings. Karl was a trial lawyer in Vernon for the last 22 years. Before that, he articled and practiced law in Cranbrook. He studied at the University of British Columbia and then Osgoode Hall Law School. During his years of trial practice he was a member of the BC Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Trial Lawyers Association of BC and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He was a non-practicing member in good-standing of the Law Society of BC. He was also a member of the BC Arbitration and Mediation Institute and the ADR Institute of Canada, and served as an arbitrator/mediator and administrative adjudicator in Vernon. He was an active volunteer in his local community supporting the Food Bank, Cancer Foundation and various other societies. Karl had a profound love for animals and a green thumb around the home, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. His favorite pastimes were downhill skiing and swimming thousands of kilometres at the local pool and in lakes over the years. Karl will always be remembered for his incredible, contagious and often irreverent sense of humour and sparkling wit. His intellect, integrity and humility were truly a source of inspiration. He was loved so much, by so many. He leaves in sorrow his grieving family and friends who must find solace in reflecting on his bountiful life. Karl is survived by his spouse, Deborah Boyne; brothers, Michael (Ellen) of Toronto, Ontario, Robert of London, Ontario, Christopher of Nashville, Tennessee and Eric (Yvonne) of Kamloops; sisters, Star of Ottawa, Ontario, June of Vancouver, Gail (Jeffrey) of London, Ontario and brother-in-law Tony of Calgary, Alberta. He was predeceased by his father, B. Michael Deibert and mother, Anastasia Deibert. Revered for his wisdom and respected for his strength of character, Karl will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. A private family memorial will commemorate Karl’s life. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karl’s name to the Vernon Chapter of Mental Health Association, 3100-28th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. Condolences can be sent to the family through Vernon Funeral Home (1027@alderwoods.com). ~May you be comforted with the belief that each time we remember, we meet again with those we love, for the heart never forgets~ Here is the last note I had from Karl. Hello Donna, > > I am becoming increasingly certain that I can`t juggle my schedule to allow me to attend the reunion. I want to thank you and others who have helped for putting it together, even if I can`t come. I am not absolutely certain, but if I don`t come please show my photo (if the attachment makes it through your firewall) to Doug Falconer, Gary Ockenden etc. (anyone who will admit having known me!) Just tell them I went on the atkins diet. > > If I don`t make it, have a great time. > > Regards, > > Karl Deibert > The picture is from Karl as you will see by the note. It certainly goes go his humour and wit

| Sharon Ansell and family enjoyed a wonderful tribute to Lorraine in September. It was a great tribute to a wonderful woman. Sharon received a cd with a memorial of all of Lorraine`s films and will share it with us as soon as she can figure out how! Is life a boon If so it must befall That Death, whene`er he call Must call too soon. They say that we are all special in our own way so why is it that only a few appear to us as special? Lorraine definately was someone who people say was special. I only recently met Lorraine through the reunion and she touched all she encountered. I think it comes to joy of life. Lorraine enjoyed life. She loved to laugh, make jokes, possessed a quick wit, was charming, laughed at herself and most impotantly of all - loved. You could feel it because it was infectious. When I heard of Lorraine`s passing I did a little research and learned that she was modest as well. During her career as an actress she was in 20+ film and television productions, 10+ theatre plays, as well as several advertisements for both commercial and industrial environments. She was awarded the Theatre Ontario Adjudicator`s Award and appeared in a TV production Binary Grove which was nominated for a Gemini Award. Lorraine also appeared in several dinner theatre productions. She wore the hat of President of Actra Ottawa and on top of all that she was employed with Transport Canada as a writer and editor. She was the wife of Josef Pliva, whom she adored and step mom to son, Gabriel and daughter, Caroline and sister-in-law to Lida. She will be greatly missed by her parents Patrick and Patricia Ansell and adored sister Sharon Butters. Her playmate was Cy her beloved dog. I can only imagine the pain and feeling of loss that her family and close friends are feeling. She celebrated her birthday recently with both gusto and joy and was determined to take every bit of joy from life that was offered and then was generous enough to share it with all. She loved camping, canoeing, biking and hiking. What makes a person special? Let`s take a page from Lorraine, in her memory. Let`s learn to laugh at ourselves, enjoy whatever blessings we already have and be content with the small things as well as the big. To all Lorraine`s family and friends our thoughts and hearts are with you through this difficult time. Donna and all the BBCI Family
